Are you passionate about leading a team of experts in marine and terrestrial ornithology? APEM is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to spearhead our ornithological EIA consultancy team.
As the Associate Director, you will guide and manage our ornithology division, including managing budgets, and driving employee engagement. Your role will involve overseeing EIA and Habitats Regulation Assessment, conducting and analysing terrestrial and offshore ornithological surveys, and collaborating with APEM's diverse teams. You will be responsible for maintaining stakeholder relationships, ensuring compliance with standards, and implementing a culture of continuous improvement. You will also provide specialist advice to clients and colleagues, managing project deadlines, and maintaining the team's efficiency and capacity. Over time, you will establish a strong ornithological community across the APEM Group, maintaining a highly regarded standing in the industry, and aiding to the company's growth through innovative solutions.
You will have:
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification, preferably with chartered status or working towards:Full Member of IEMA/IES/CIEEM and/or CEnv
- Topic expertise
- Experience of managing and delivery of EcIA / EIA for large infrastructure or Offshore Renewables projects, or equivalent project management track record
- Detailed knowledge of planning and consents processes and strategies to support for major development projects: England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland (awareness of global approaches beneficial)
- Experience in a multidisciplinary consultancy and integration /interface management of various workstreams or teams
- Commercial acumen
- Experience of Strategic Environmental Assessment, Habitats Regulations/Appropriate Assessment
- Excellent Team leadership, including co-ordination of surveys, terrestrial teams, and sub-contracted services
- Good client facing experience, with experience of developing relationships and winning new business, within ornithology or cross-selling.
