Aspect Ecology, part of the APEM Group, has an excellent opportunity for a full time, permanent GIS & Graphics Technician to join their in-house graphics and GIS team. You will be given the opportunity to learn and work on interesting projects helping to identify and map ecologically important considerations for clients who are providing much needed development such as new homes, renewable energy solutions and infrastructure. You will work closely with the ecologists, helping to visualise their field work using industry recognised software and techniques. You will receive training in calculating Biodiversity Net Gain, a growing discipline that is likely to dominate the work in terrestrial GIS work in the coming years, helping to future proof your career.
In addition, you will on occasion, also be able to use your creative flair to support other project work. You may be asked to help design information leaflets or notice boards that highlight the work both ourselves and clients have carried out to mitigate the impact of developments and provide ecological enhancement.
To apply for this role, you must possess:
- A relevant degree in environmental/geographical studies with modules covering the use of GIS.
- An understanding of GIS software, ideally QGIS.
- Strong IT skills including Office packages and Adobe.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team with fellow GIS professionals and field workers.
- A good creative eye to ensure the GIS work you carry out is visually attractive, informative and can be understood quickly and easily. This will also aid wider graphics work.
- Good project management skills and understand how to prioritise your workload.
