About The Role

Do you thrive in fast-moving environments where no two days are the same? Do you enjoy managing people, driving improvements, and keeping operations running smoothly? Are you looking for a role where your energy, initiative, and problem-solving skills make a visible difference across multiple sites?

We’re looking for an energetic and proactive Facilities Lead to join APEM Group. This is a hands-on and varied role — balancing day-to-day facilities management with project work, supplier relationships, and people leadership to support our UK offices, laboratories and storage warehouses— ensuring they remain safe, compliant, efficient and ready for our scientists and consultants to do their best work. This is a highly mobile role and will require travel to offices and storage facilities across the UK, (including Edinburgh, Manchester and Devon).

Working closely with the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Lead for Ireland, you’ll take ownership of Facilities projects including office moves, refurbishments, supplier reviews and asset management. You’ll manage and develop a small Facilities team, support compliance across our property portfolio, and act as a trusted point of contact for stakeholders across the Group. This role is suited to someone who brings energy, stamina and strong organisational instincts — someone who can spot issues early, take initiative, and drive continuous improvement across a varied and growing estate.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Excellent communication skills — written, verbal and stakeholder-facing
  • Confident IT literacy (Microsoft applications, systems use, reporting tools)
  • Experience line managing and developing team members
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and risk assessments
  • Experience managing suppliers and contractors
  • Background in office moves, fit outs or facilities project work
  • A willingness to travel to multiple sites across the UK
  • IWFM membership (or working towards)

What helps you stand out:

  • A H&S qualification (IOSH, NEBOSH, First Aid at Work)
  • Experience delivering audits, inspections or procedure development
  • Familiarity with ISO standards or management systems
  • Procurement experience or related qualifications
  • Strong organisational skills and composure in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for supporting a service-driven organisation

You will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them. We match this with a commitment to continuous development and learning to support your career. We also offer benefits to look after you, from private medical insurance for all employees, access to mental health first aiders and comprehensive income protection if you cannot work. We also offer superb flexible working options, balancing work with your life.

Next steps

We are focused on creating a diverse and inclusive team. If you can’t tick every box on our job description, then we are still keen to hear from you and are open to supporting your development. That may be working part time or supporting you to gain experience in a specific area – we are a growing company and are able to adapt roles to reflect individual skills.

If you think you have what it takes to join our fast-growing business, then please apply immediately on our website. All we need some basic information and your CV, we will review all applications quickly and will respond to all applications.
