About The Role

About the role

Do you want a role where no two days are the same? From continuous water quality monitoring and bathing water assessments to analysing complex data sets and delivering impact assessments, this position offers real variety and challenge.

We’re looking for a Water Quality Senior Consultant to join our Freshwater Team. This is a technical, primarily desk-based role, where you’ll take the lead on projects that help clients manage and improve the quality of aquatic environments. You’ll design monitoring programmes, interrogate data and deliver clear, evidence-based advice to clients across Freshwater, transitional and marine settings.

What makes the difference here is attitude. We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, independent and solution-focused; a trusted consultant who enjoys seeing projects through from start to finish while also supporting and mentoring colleagues. Whether your background is freshwater, marine, or estuarine water quality, if you bring the right expertise and approach, we want to hear from you.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need to bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience of working in a commercial consultancy environment at a senior level

  • A proven track record of delivering projects within budget and to a high standard

  • Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from tendering through to delivery

  • Technical expertise in water and sediment quality assessment, with experience in at least one of:

    • Water quality impact assessments

    • Monitoring and modelling

    • Reservoir or catchment management

    • Algal blooms, taste and odour, or nutrient budgeting

    • Lake restoration

  • Solid skills in data processing, quality control, interpretation, and reporting

  • An understanding of UK environmental legislation

It’s a bonus if you have:

  • Experience in water quality modelling (e.g. SIMCAT)

  • A relevant higher degree

  • Professional accreditation (or are working towards it)
