About The Role

Are you looking to build a career in the maritime sector? Do you have a numerate degree and an interest in shipping, ports or offshore renewables? Are you keen to apply your GIS and analytical skills to real-world navigation safety projects?

NASH Maritime provides specialist consultancy, technology and software solutions focused on navigation safety. Our team works with developers, ports and maritime authorities around the world, supporting projects across offshore renewables, oil and gas and the wider maritime sector.

We’re looking for a Maritime GIS Analyst to join our core team and contribute to the delivery of shipping and navigation consultancy projects. In this key role, you’ll work with maritime data using tools such as Excel, QGIS and our in-house geoprocessing toolkits, alongside specialist modelling software used in navigation risk assessment. A typical project might involve analysing and interpreting maritime vessel traffic data to understand shipping activity within a project area and identify potential navigational hazards associated with developments such as offshore wind farms. You’ll carry out analytical work independently while also collaborating closely with our team of mariners, harbour masters and technical specialists, bringing together the wider team’s expertise to deliver robust navigation safety assessments.

What you’ll need:

  • BSc (Hons) degree in GIS or similar.
  • 1-2 years previous experience within a GIS role.
  • Ability to apply your technical knowledge to analyse problems and find innovative solutions.
  • Competency with GIS software (e.g. QGIS or Esri ArcGIS Pro).
  • Meticulous attention to detail regarding GIS data analysis and plotting.
  • Experience of handling and analysing data.
  • An interest or experience in coding (E.g. python).

You will be offered the chance to work on a variety of projects, many of our employees have worked on projects that have been of personal interest to them. We match this with a commitment to continuous development and learning to support your career. We also offer benefits to look after you, from private medical insurance for all employees, access to mental health first aiders and comprehensive income protection if you cannot work. We also offer superb flexible working options, balancing work with your life.
