We are looking for a Marine Water Quality & Physical Processes Discipline Director to lead and develop a key part of our Marine Ecosystems practice. This is a senior leadership role with full responsibility for the performance, direction and growth of the discipline. You will shape strategy, build capability, and ensure the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of marine and coastal work from data collection and surveys through to complex technical advisory and environmental assessments.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, providing clear direction, building capability, and creating a high-performing, accountable culture. Alongside this, you will play a central role in driving commercial success developing client relationships, strengthening frameworks, and building a sustainable pipeline of high-value work.
This role goes beyond project delivery. It’s about defining a market offering, positioning the discipline for growth, and establishing a reputation for excellence in marine water quality and physical processes.
In this role, you will:
- Set and deliver the strategic direction for the Marine Water Quality & Physical Processes discipline
- Lead, develop and grow a high-performing team, building capability and clear accountability
- Drive commercial performance, including pipeline development, pricing strategy, and financial delivery
- Build and maintain senior client relationships, acting as a trusted partner and sponsor on key accounts
- Oversee delivery across a complex portfolio, ensuring quality, consistency, and strong client outcomes
- Shape and evolve the discipline’s technical offering, identifying opportunities for innovation and growth
- Collaborate across the business to deliver integrated, cross-disciplinary solutions
We’re looking for someone who:
- Brings strong technical expertise in marine water quality, coastal processes, or a related field
- Has a track record of leading teams and delivering high-quality consultancy services at scale
- Is comfortable operating at a strategic level, with accountability for performance, growth, and direction
- Understands the commercial drivers of consultancy and can translate strategy into sustainable results
- Has established relationships within the water or marine sector and the credibility to build new ones
- Takes a pragmatic, delivery-focused approach able to balance long-term ambition with operational reality
