About The Role

Are you an experienced environmental consultant with a passion for nature-based solutions and sustainable water management? Do you enjoy helping clients solve complex environmental challenges while shaping innovative, practical solutions? Are you looking for a role where you can combine technical expertise, client engagement and project leadership in a growing area of environmental consultancy?

APEM’s water discipline is continuing to grow, and we’re looking for a senior leader to support the development and delivery of projects focused on nature-based solutions, catchment management and environmental improvement. This is an exciting opportunity to manage a large and well-established team working on projects that help organisations respond to some of the UK’s biggest environmental challenges relating to water from climate resilience and water resource management through to habitat enhancement and sustainable infrastructure delivery.

Success in this role means building on our reputation as a trusted advisor to our long-standing clients, helping shape practical, evidence-led solutions that deliver environmental outcomes while balancing operational and commercial realities. You’ll play a key role in developing and delivering projects, supporting clients through the full project lifecycle and helping ensure work is delivered to a high technical and professional standard.

A key focus of the role is supporting the growth of APEM’s nature-based solutions offering. You’ll contribute to projects involving catchment restoration, natural flood management, water ecology improvement, habitat creation and wider ecosystem-based approaches, working closely with science professionals across the business.

You’ll also help strengthen client relationships, contribute to bids and proposals, and identify opportunities to expand services and deliver new clients to APEM.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Experience within an environmental consultancy, water or environmental management environment
  • Strong understanding of nature-based solutions, catchment management or environmental improvement approaches
  • Experience supporting or delivering environmental projects from inception through to completion
  • Strong report writing, data interpretation and communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across teams
  • Experience building positive relationships with clients and stakeholders
  • A proactive mindset, with the confidence to identify opportunities and contribute ideas

Desirable / bonus:

  • Experience working with water company, regulatory or infrastructure clients
  • Knowledge of natural flood management, biodiversity enhancement or habitat restoration
  • GIS or environmental data analysis experience
  • Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards chartership

At APEM, you’ll be part of a high-growth, purpose-driven consultancy delivering projects that make a genuine difference to the environment and communities across the UK and beyond.

This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects, develop your expertise in a rapidly growing area of consultancy, and help shape how nature-based solutions are applied to real-world environmental challenges.

If you’re looking for a role where you can combine technical delivery, environmental impact and long-term career growth, we’d love to hear from you.
