APEM is looking for a Solicitor to join our Legal team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified solicitor with commercial contracts experience to gain broad in-house exposure within a leading environmental consultancy. You’ll play a key role in supporting project delivery through the review, drafting and negotiation of a wide range of commercial contracts that the delivery of major environmental and infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the business, providing pragmatic legal advice, identifying and managing contractual risk, supporting tender and project teams, and helping ensure contractual arrangements align with commercial objectives. You'll be involved throughout the contract lifecycle, from tender stage through to project delivery, while developing a strong understanding of the wider commercial drivers behind legal decision-making.
Success in this role will mean becoming a trusted adviser to stakeholders across APEM, delivering commercially focused legal support while helping the business manage risk effectively. As APEM continues to expand, you'll have opportunities to work on strategic and high-risk negotiations, support higher-risk contractual matters and have opportunities to broaden your legal experience while contributing to the ongoing development of the Legal team.
Essential
- Minimum of 2-3 years relevant work experience, including experience of reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- An enthusiastic, proactive individual with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment and produce high quality work within tight deadlines.
- Excellent drafting skills and a keen eye for detail, with ability to provide pragmatic advice.
- Good level of legal experience and able to communicate legal concepts appropriately (verbal and written), including ability to modify approach depending on audience.
- Able to work autonomously but with supervision on a day-to-day basis.
- Display significant commercial, technical and professional skill and judgement including the ability to analyse risk and justify decisions to internal stakeholders.
