About The Role

Are you an Ecologist and looking for an opportunity to step up and take on more responsibility? Do you have experience in undertaking protected species and habitat surveys? Are you looking to start mentoring others, or to take a lead on some diverse project work? Fancy the flexibility to work from home or an office and the opportunity to get out in the field?

We are actively seeking a Senior Ecologist to join our existing North West ecology team based in Manchester. In this crucial role, you'll be working with our experienced team on all aspects of the consultancy process (from tender preparation, through fieldwork, to high quality scientific reporting and sign-off). Along with our focus on growth and development within a close-knit, dynamic and fast-moving division, you'll be working within an experienced team of both terrestrial and aquatic scientists who deliver a wide variety of projects across the UK for environment and conservation agencies, water industries, energy industries and many more. You'll also have the opportunity to work with cross-cutting expertise, not only in the terrestrial sector, but in fisheries science, hydrology, hydro/geomorphology, and water quality sectors.

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience conducting Phase 1 Habitat and / or UK Habitats Classification surveys.
  • Experience of writing Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and / or protected species survey reports.
  • Experience of protected species surveys (e.g. dormice, bats, GCN, otter, water vole, birds etc.).
  • Up to date overview of EU and UK legislation pertaining to ecology and environmental issues, as well as Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), Ecological Impact Assessments and planning regulations;
  • A full UK driving licence.
