Are you an early-career hydromorphologist ready to build your expertise? Want to work on meaningful water projects supported by experienced multidisciplinary teams? Looking for a role where your ideas and growth mindset are valued just as much as your technical skills?
We’re looking for a Consultant Hydromorphologist to join our growing Water Management division. You’ll support a wide range of exciting projects across the UK and Ireland, including water resource environmental assessments, drainage and sediment management, wetland hydrology, and river restoration. You’ll work in close collaboration with a supportive team of field professionals and senior consultants, gaining exposure to both the desk and field elements of technical delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity to build a varied and future-focused hydromorphology skill set—including hydrological assessments, hydraulic modelling, and sustainable design. You’ll contribute to environmental solutions that help tackle flooding, pollution, and ecosystem degradation, with plenty of scope to shape your development and take on increasing responsibility over time.
We’d particularly love to hear from candidates with hydraulic modelling experience (HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller etc), though this is not essential—we’re open to those with strong transferrable skills and a passion for developing in this space.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
-
A desire to use your hydromorphology skills to tackle future environmental challenges
-
A solid understanding of hydrological/hydromorphological processes and analyses
-
Excellent numerical skills including GIS and data analysis software
-
Clear verbal and written communication skills
-
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities
-
A proactive, problem-solving mindset
Bonus points for:
-
Experience with hydraulic modelling (e.g. HEC-RAS, Flood Modeller)
-
Familiarity with catchment or wetland modelling, field hydrometry, or AutoCAD
-
Skills in R or other statistical analysis tools
-
Contributions to:
-
River or riparian restoration designs
-
Surface water management plans
-
Construction Environmental Management Plans
-
NFM or drainage/flood risk assessments
-
Water resource environmental assessments
