Are you a commercially minded finance leader who still loves getting into the detail? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, change-driven environment where no two weeks are the same? Are you looking for a role where you can make an immediate impact, helping shape the future of an international business that is growing fast?
We’re looking for a Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to join APEM Group’s Commercial Finance team. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we plan, analyse, and interpret financial performance across our international group of environmental businesses. You and your team will provide the insight that drives strategic decisions at the highest level.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Our financial planning and budgeting processes are well established, but the analysis and insight we generate are evolving. You’ll bring curiosity, commercial awareness and analytical sharpness, and be someone who looks at trends and asks why? You will help business partners and senior leaders understand what drives our numbers and how we can improve performance, on a macro level.
You’ll work directly with the Group CFO, Commercial Finance Directors, and divisional leaders, providing robust analysis, forecasts and reporting across a rapidly expanding group that includes multiple international entities. You’ll need to be comfortable balancing high-level strategic work with rolling up your sleeves to refine models, challenge assumptions, and build confidence in data. As we are highly acquisitive, you will thrive in a changing environment. One month can and will look very different to the next as we integrate more businesses.
To succeed in this role, you’ll need:
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience
- A strong background in FP&A, ideally within a fast-moving, acquisitive, or international organisation
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills with advanced Excel capability
- Experience leading budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes
- Confidence presenting insights to senior stakeholders and Board-level audiences
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills—you’ll be the person people trust to explain the why behind the numbers
- A flexible, hands-on approach—you’re as comfortable in the detail as you are contributing to strategy
Bonus points for:
- Experience working with ERP or BI tools (Power BI would be a plus)
- Exposure to integration and systems improvement projects
- Experience building or shaping FP&A teams in a growing business
