AQUAFACT, part of the APEM Group, are looking for a Senior Field Scientist to join our team!
As a Senior Field Scientist, you will manage activities and projects for the AQUAFACT Field team, supporting the Principal Field Scientist in planning and coordinating field activities for current and future projects and ensuring all administrative and project management activities are completed. You will have responsibility for planning field activities, including preparing risk assessments and method statements, as well as commercial management of projects, as well as participating in field-based activities and monitoring. You will develop strong working relationships with clients and other key stakeholders, becoming a point of contact for the wider team to provide scientific advice and guidance on fieldwork activities. You will also be expected to participate in field-based activities and monitoring, which will include travel within Ireland and abroad.
Over time, you will become confident in management of field activities for projects, ensuring resources are utilized effectively and projects properly planned and delivered to a high quality within agreed timeframes. You will become an advisor within the team, providing advice on various survey types and equipment calibration, set-up and maintenance, as well as scientific expertise and experience in your field.
You will have:
- Relevant third level Degree (Level 8 or higher) and at least 3 years professional experience in environmental monitoring and assessment.
- Experience of survey planning and managing logistics, and managing field teams.
- Experience of Health and Safety management systems.
- Strong, creative problem-solving, organisational and analytical skills.
- Experience in carrying out a variety of survey types, particularly offshore experience (including calibration, deployment and maintenance of various pieces of equipment).
- Experience in project management, including the use of Deltek or similar project management software.
- Driving Licence.
Beneficial to have:
- HSE or HSA Commercial Diver qualification & experience acting as a Dive Contractor and Dive Supervisor.
- ISA Commercial Endorsement for Passenger Vessel.
- Membership of a professional body, working towards chartership.
- Strong technical report writing skills.
- Towing licence (Category BE).
- Strong commercial awareness.
