About The Role

It’s an exciting time to join APEM. As a growing environmental consultancy working on complex and meaningful projects, we’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of client projects across our business.

This role sits within our Project Team focussed on supporting our Environmental business unit, supporting projects such as water quality testing, protection of species such as Great Crested Newts and bats and work to mitigate the impact to marine life from offshore wind farms.

You will become a trusted support to Project Managers and Technical Managers, ensuring projects are well organised, properly governed and delivered to time, cost and quality expectations. You’ll take ownership of project coordination, maintaining plans, RAID logs and systems, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date throughout the project lifecycle.

You’ll coordinate updates across project teams, support stakeholder communication, and ensure actions are tracked and delivered. As your confidence grows, you’ll take full ownership of smaller projects, developing your capability across planning, delivery, risk management and financial tracking.

You’ll also play an active role in improving how projects are delivered identifying opportunities to strengthen processes, enhance governance and support continuous improvement across the PMO.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • At least 18 months practical experience in a project coordination, project administration or PMO role
  • Experience working with project management systems and documentation (e.g. project plans, RAID logs)
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience supporting project financials, including tracking costs or invoices
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • The ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines

Desirable / bonus:

  • Experience within an environmental, consultancy or project-based business
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams
