Are you an M&A professional looking for broader, hands-on deal exposure than a traditional corporate or advisory environment can offer? Do you enjoy getting into the detail of transactions while still influencing strategy and building senior relationships?
Are you looking for a role where you can develop true end-to-end deal experience in a high-growth, acquisitive business?
It’s an exciting time to join APEM. As a fast-growing environmental consultancy, now part of the global Applus+ Group, we’re entering a new phase of international growth, investment and acquisition activity. We’re looking for an M&A Senior Manager / Associate Director to support the delivery of APEM’s ambitious growth strategy through targeted, strategic acquisitions.
This role offers something genuinely different from a traditional corporate, advisory or highly process-driven M&A environment. Working within a lean, high-impact team, you’ll gain hands-on exposure across the full deal lifecycle. From origination and relationship building through to diligence, negotiation, completion and integration handover.
Success in this role means becoming a trusted driver of APEM’s M&A activity, building meaningful relationships across the market while developing true 360° transaction experience. You won’t be operating in a narrow workstream or layered structure instead, you’ll be actively involved in all aspects of transactions, personally helping shape deals and drive them forward.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across APEM, and leadership within the wider Applus+ Group, gaining direct exposure to strategic decision-making and live transactions. Alongside this, you’ll help strengthen and evolve the Group’s wider M&A capability contributing to pipeline development, improving ways of working and supporting scalable growth.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys a roll-your-sleeves-up environment and wants the breadth of experience, visibility and responsibility needed to accelerate their M&A career. While we are a remote-first business, this role will require regular engagement with stakeholders in the North West of England, so candidates should be based locally or comfortable spending time in the region.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Strong transaction experience across the M&A lifecycle, including diligence, negotiation and execution
- Experience within corporate development, corporate finance advisory, transaction services or private equity
- Excellent financial modelling, valuation and analytical skills
- Strong commercial judgement and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- The confidence to build relationships with founders, advisers and senior stakeholders
- A proactive, resilient mindset with the willingness to get involved directly in delivery
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with attention to detail
Desirable / bonus:
- Experience across both buy-side and sell-side transactions
- Exposure to post-acquisition integration
- ACA, CIMA or CFA qualification (or equivalent)
- Experience working within a high-growth or acquisitive business
At APEM, you’ll be part of a purpose-driven organisation delivering work that supports environmental and social outcomes worldwide. As part of the wider Applus+ Group, you’ll gain exposure to international growth opportunities while helping shape the future direction of APEM’s M&A capability.
This role offers:
- Direct exposure to live transactions and senior stakeholders
- The opportunity to develop true end-to-end deal experience
- Close collaboration with leadership across both APEM and Applus+
- The ability to help shape and strengthen the Group’s long-term M&A capability and pipeline
If you’re looking for an opportunity where you can combine strategic exposure, hands-on execution and genuine career growth, we’d love to hear from you.
