We’re looking for an IT Support Technician to join our Group Services team on a 12 month contract. Based primarily from our Hawarden (Chester) office, this is a hands-on role supporting a fast-paced technology and data-focused office where large volumes of ecological survey data are generated and managed. You’ll be a visible, trusted presence on site, while also working closely with our central IT team to provide remote support across the wider group.
This role is hybrid, but you’ll typically spend around four days per week in the Hawarden office, providing in-person support to local teams. You’ll handle a wide range of first-line software and hardware queries, support new starters, help keep systems running smoothly, and play a key role in ensuring people can do their jobs effectively. You’ll also regularly interact with colleagues at all levels — from field staff and analysts through to senior leaders — so clear communication and a calm, helpful approach are essential.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
Essential
- Previous experience providing IT support (commercial, academic, or similar environment)
- Confidence handling first-line software and hardware issues
- Good working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365
- Strong communication skills and a people-focused mindset
- Ability to manage multiple queries and prioritise effectively
- Willingness to work primarily on site in Hawarden and provide remote support across the group
Desirable
- Experience supporting both Windows and Mac environments
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals (WiFi, routers, switches)
- Exposure to mobile device management or Active Directory
- Experience working in a busy office or technical environment
