Are you a technically strong BI professional who enjoys getting into the detail behind the data, not just producing dashboards? Are you someone who likes to understand how data is structured, how it flows through systems, and how it can be shaped to answer the right business questions? Are you confident working with senior stakeholders, able to challenge assumptions and help reframe problems rather than simply delivering what’s been requested?
We’re looking for a BI Developer to play a key role in strengthening and evolving Business Intelligence across APEM Group. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who wants to be hands on. Someone who will roll their sleeves up and take time to understand our data architecture, improving data models, and enhancing BI dashboards that are already in use across the business.
You’ll work closely with colleagues working in other business functions who are developing dashboards today. Supporting them to elevate the technical quality, consistency and scalability of our BI outputs. In addition to understanding business requirements yourself and building new dashboards. As the organisation continues to recognise the value of the data it holds, this role is expected to grow in scope, with a clear pathway into a BI Manager position over time.
This role also has a strong outward-facing element. You’ll be visible across the business, working with senior leaders to understand trends, challenge thinking, and help translate complex data into insight that genuinely supports decision-making, not just reporting for reporting’s sake.
We’re a remote-first organisation and are open to candidates across the UK. Proximity to Chester or Stockport would be helpful, with occasional travel to the office (typically a couple of times per month) for stakeholder engagement and collaboration with the wider data team.
You will need:
- Extensive experience translating complex business requirements into robust, scalable BI solutions and products
- Expertise in Power BI, Power Query, DAX Measures and be fully proficient in SQL
- Working experience with ETL
- Experience working with Agile Methodology and delivering to deadlines
- Experience working with Senior stakeholders and confidence in challenging thinking
It would be great if you also had experience of, some or all of these:
- Setting up and managing an organisation’s Power BI environment
- Power Automate and Power Apps
- Azure and/or Amazon Web Services
- Financial processes and reporting
- Reporting on a Data Lakehouse/Data Warehouse
If you’re looking for a role where you can apply deep technical BI expertise, influence how data is used across a growing organisation, and help shape what comes next, we’d like to hear from you.
